Vegetables will help to get rid of PMS manifestations

Diet, rich with green leaf vegetables, may help women to avoid PMS, reducing manifestation of the symptoms by 40%.

These products contain nonheme iron (is about 90% of the whole iron content). The researchers from the University of Massachusetts and Harvard University have ascertained that for 10 years 3000 women, who consumed the biggest amount of iron with food, faced PMS much rarer. Iron is connected with the production of serotonin, which helps to regulate mood.During the PMS women often complain on shifts of mood, irritation, decreased libido, breast hypersensitivity, water retention. During the research the female participants filled in the diet questionnaire. For 10 years PMS was diagnosed in 1057 women. The experts advise to consume about 20 mg of iron daily, but not more than 45mg. Otherwise, development of hemochromatosis (when iron starts accumulating in tissues), diabetes, liver cancer, arthritis and heart failure is possible. Iron can be found in dried fruit, beans, lentils, peas, artichokes, broccoli, green beans and leaf vegetables.
