Sesame seeds reduce the level of oxidative stress
Specialists of the State University of Rio de Janeiro and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) recommend to treat the diet with plenty of foods with sesame. It turns out that these seeds and products made from these seeds, help the human body to fight an oxidative stress. Sesame oil is very useful.
As we know, the oxidative stress is the process of cell damage due to increasing amounts of free radicals as a result of which the important cell components such as lipids and DNA are oxidized. In humans, the oxidative stress is a cause or increases the risk of many chronic diseases, such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes; it is also a part of the aging process.
In their finding, the Brazilian researchers studied how the intake of sesame seeds effects on the indication levels of oxidative stress in volunteers with hypertension, high level of cholesterol and diabetes. The researchers have found that after the intake of sesame the levels of antioxidants decreasing the level of oxidative stress have been increased. The most positive effect was observed in patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
