Experts have told how to overcome the global threat - supergerms
As Zee News noted, every year by 2050 almost 10 million people will die of infections resistant to treatment. Fortunately, scientists have a plan. And it will not allow to throw back the humanity into the Middle Ages. However, the plan will require the billions dollars.
In the meanwhile, the world is rapidly losing the war against superbugs. The bacterial threat has already been compared with the terrorism on gravity. The main directions of the strategy of confrontation are the development of new drugs and the limited use of old antibiotics (the scientists recommend to use them only in the last resort).
It requires a massive education campaign, as most people don’t even know about risks of thoughtless use of antibiotics. You should also establish a Fund for the conceptual stage of research. The amount of the fund is about 2 billion dollars. At the same time we should take care that hospitals always have access to clean water and aseptic agents. The task is to make the hospitals cleaner, because dangerous infections are usually transferred in the hospitals.
Also you have to reduce the use of antibiotics in agriculture (some local restrictions may apply). The scientists ask to pay 1 billion dollars for every research company which discovered a new antibiotic. Financial incentives may also push forward the development of new tests. It will allow to avoid the administration of antibiotics in cases where they are useless. At the same time the application of vaccines and alternative medicines should be performed.
